BCCI hit-wicket out by its ousted office-bearers

It is indeed a matter of utmost satisfaction that Supreme Court after a long wait has acted harsh against ever-defiant (now-ousted) President and Secretary of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) by removing them for their posts after they themselves did not do at their own even after recommendations of Supreme court appointed committee headed by former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha. But it is not enough. Supreme Court’s verdict is now awaited on charges of contempt and perjury against erring politician/office-bearer having hijacked cricket-administration in world’s richest cricket-body. It is noteworthy that Supreme Court has observed thatAnurag Thakur as BCCI President “obstructed and impeded” implementation of the Lodha panel’s recommendations aimed at bringing transparency in the functioning of the cricket body.

Justice RM Lodha committee had also required central government to take a final call on bringing BCCI under purview of RTI Act. But since central government has also not taken decision to bring BCCI under purview of RTI Act, it is for Supreme Court or Justice RM Lodha committee to take a final call for BCCI becoming under purview of RTI Act. When Hockey India is under purview of RTI Act, there is no reason why other sports-bodies mainly including super-rich BCCI and its affiliated state cricket-associations are not under RTI Act. Super rich BCCI obtained ex-party stay-order from Madras High Court even on hearing of Central Information Commission (CIC) when a full bench of CIC was hearing the matter.
