Suchetgarh a delight

Hidden gem: Suchetgarh, is located bang on the international border, 28 km to south of Jammu city. It is 7 km from R.S. Pura, famous for its basmati rice. A cafeteria and thatched hut-type structures add to the quaint ambience. A couple of magnificent temples, over 150 year old, in the village, stand renovated recently. There are ambitious plans to develop this border village like the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab. It was the old trade route, with train from Lahore reaching Sialkot, and entering J&K territory here.

Nearest cities: Jammu  28 km, Udhampur 67 km north and Kathua 93 km towards east.

How to reach Suchetgarh: From Jammu city, it can take 45 minutes to an hour to reach this place.

By rail: The Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest railhead, just 28 km away. Most important trains from different parts of the country halt here.

Important: Like Srinagar-Muzaffarbad and Poonch-Rawalakote route, Jammu-Sialkot route can be (re) opened for travel. This has the potential of becoming the most popular route of all.
