J&K Minority Case in SC:
PIL titled Ankur Sharma V/s Union of India and Ors.
Supreme Court once again imposes Cost of Rs 30,000 on the Union Government for not filing the reply in time. Grants time to file reply.
Centre makes an oral observation before the CJI that our stand is not going to be adversarial to what the petitioner has demanded.
When the case titled Ankur Sharma V/s Union of India and Ors seeking identification of Religious and Linguistic minorities in J&K came up for hearing,  Advocate Ankur Sharma  strongly (petitioner in person) HBstrongly pressed for the suspension of minority schemes illegally being implemented in J&K.
The Union Government while  pleading for one more opportunity submitted that the reply is almost ready but given the profound and serious nature of the matter, it is getting vetted at the Highest Level by the Central Government.
At this moment, the CJI came down heavily upon the government asking them to explain as to what do they mean by getting vetted at the Highest level. He further asked them that despite costs being opposed upon them last time, now since they have chosen not to file reply once again, why another cost of Rs 30000 be not imposed upon them.
Finally the Court granted them time to file reply and imposed costs of Rs 30000 on the Central Government. The case was heard by Hon’ble CJI Justice Kehar and Hon’ble Justice Rammana.
